The Packers Franchise Preservation Fund is a fund set aside by the Packers franchise to insure that the Packers maintain the resources to play in the NFL, despite other changes in the League or the team. The Packers’ Franchise Preservation Fund was established in the year 2005. In 2006, the fund gained $17.8 million dollars, raising its contents by 18 percent to $115.5 million dollars. The establishment of the Packers Franchise Preservation Fund was a good idea, as in 2007, there was potential for the salary cap to vanish, which would have ruined the Packers, had they not had their fund.
