The Texas Business Opportunities Act defines the Texas franchise laws and specifies the sale or lease of any products, equipment, supplies, or services that are sold for an initial amount exceeding $500 and that will be used to begin a business, and in which the seller represents that: the purchaser is likely to earn a profit in excess of the initial amount paid to the seller; the seller will assist in providing locations for the use or operation of the products, equipment, supplies or services; the seller will provide a marketing program; or the seller will buy back any products, supplies, or equipment purchased, as a franchise. A franchisee may choose, instead of becoming personally financially involved in a franchise, to offer their services as a WSI franchise consultant.
