Q. Is there such a thing as franchise termination?
It seems counterproductive for a franchisor to choose termination of a franchisee because they will be choosing to lose royalties and other fees generated by that franchisee. There are cases, however, when the franchisee isn’t performing up to standards or they are circumventing the system and not generating the royalties or fees necessary to keep up the contract. A franchisor might also choose franchise termination if the franchisee is not upholding the good name of the franchise. There are often many terms laid out in the franchise contract that can allow immediate termination of the franchise. Some people choose to go a different route, however, and become a WSI consultant to help small businesses and franchisees become successful businesses.
