Toronto, Canada, March 2, 2009… Representatives fromover 4000 international franchise organizations attended this year’s Annual IFA Convention. Over 200 attendees were audience to a speaker session that opened their eyes to the opportunities of Internet marketing and social media in particular. Held in San Diego, California from February 14 to 17, 2009, the convention aimed to explore the endless possibilities that Internet marketing offers franchisors to build their brands online. Social media optimization and the fact that “250 million users can’t be wrong” was the focus of the presentation that Ron Adelman made jointly with Ken Colburn, president of Data Doctors and Peter Ross, CEO of Senior Helpers.

He went on to throw light on what the social media landscape looks like today, what the growth patterns are and what rungs of the social media ladder are still under-populated. Quoting statistics from Marketing Sherpa’s Social Media Marketing and PR Benchmark Survey 2008, the presentation cited that lack of knowledgeable staff, lack of budget funding and technical complexity were the three most significant factors impeding the adoption of social media by the corporate world.
